Description

Shrijap.com Presents the Padam Shankh, a natural sea shell named after the lotus, one of the most sacred symbols in Hindu tradition. "Padma" means lotus, and the lotus and the conch are both held by Lord Vishnu, which is why devotees paint them on either side of a home's entrance. Goddess Lakshmi is called Padma too, as she sits on a lotus, so the shankh carries a gentle link to Goddess Lakshmi as well.

In the old texts, Padma and Shankha also appear among the nine nidhis, the treasures guarded by Kuber, the lord of wealth. The Padam Shankh brings both names together, a small piece of faith for those who seek calm and abundance. At 3 to 4 inches and 25 to 40 gm, it is light and compact, and it fits easily in a home mandir or on a small altar.

How to Use

Wipe the shankh gently with a soft, clean cloth. Do not use soap or harsh chemicals.
Place it on a clean red or yellow cloth in your pooja room, beside the Vishnu or Lakshmi murti.
Light a diya and incense, then offer a lotus petal or flower and a few drops of Gangajal.
Chant "Om Shreem Mahalakshmiye Namah" and keep the shankh in its place with devotion.
