In Indian tradition the lotus stands for purity, grace and blessings, which makes it a fitting symbol for a sacred vrat. Here a large lotus mandala is hand-painted in yellow across a deep red thali, with delicate leaf-like petals spreading outward from a sparkling centre. Round stones and green gems catch the glow of the diya and give the stone work thali a rich, royal feel. A band of multicolour gotta patti in green, blue, pink and gold frames the rim, and the channi and lota carry the same lace for a perfect match.

How to Use

Place the thali on a clean surface and put the roli and chawal in the katoris
Fill the lota with water and light the diya with the ghee wick
Read the katha and perform the puja and aarti
Look at the moon through the channi, then at your husband, and break your fast with water from the lota
Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth and keep away from water, to protect the paint, stones and lace
