Description

Shrijap.com Presents the Dakshinavarti Shankh, a natural conch shell with a crown-like spire and a bold, sculpted look. Ribbed ridges run across its glossy white body, and a frilled ring of small points circles the spire, ending in a tiny peach-toned tip. A long, curved tail sweeps out at the other end, and the wide opening reveals a soft, creamy peach glow inside. "Dakshinavarti" means the shell opens towards the right, a form that tradition holds as sacred.

It is believed to carry the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, who rose from the ocean along with the shankh during the churning of the sea. At 5.5 to 6 inches, it makes a striking centrepiece for the pooja room. Many devotees also keep it near Lord Vishnu, whose sacred symbol the shankh is.

Use it as a shankh for pooja on Diwali, Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya, or give it a place of honour for Lakshmi pooja every Friday. How to Use

Wipe the shankh gently with a soft, damp cloth, taking care around the ridges. Do not use soap or harsh chemicals.
Place it on a clean red or white cloth in your pooja room, or in a cash box or locker.
Light a diya and incense, then offer flowers and a few drops of Gangajal.
Chant "Om Shreem Mahalakshmiye Namah" and keep the shankh in its place with devotion.
