Description

Shrijap.com Presents the Grey Cowrie, a natural sea shell, called kaudi in Hindi, in a soft shade that sits between sage and stone. The back of each shell glows grey-green, and fine golden lines trace its edges like a thread of light. On the creamy underside, a long, narrow opening edged with fine teeth shows the classic cowrie form. Devotees see the cowrie as a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi, as it rises from the same sacred ocean from which she arose.

At 14 to 25 mm, the shells are small and light, so a full set fits in a pooja plate, a pouch or a cash box. Since every shell is formed by nature, the shade, golden lines and teeth differ slightly, and yours are truly one of a kind. Choose from sets of 11, 21 or 51, whichever matches your family tradition.

How to Use

Wipe each shell gently with a soft, clean cloth. Do not use soap or harsh chemicals.
Place the set on a clean red or yellow cloth in your pooja room.
Light a diya and incense, then offer a flower and a few drops of Gangajal.
Chant "Om Shreem Mahalakshmiye Namah", then tie them in cloth and keep them in your cash box or locker.
