Shrijap.com Presents the Yellow Cowrie, a natural cowrie shell, known as kaudi in Hindi, kept by devotees as a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi. The cowrie rises from the same ocean from which Lakshmi arose during the churning of the sea, so the shell is seen as a quiet sign of her presence. In ancient times, cowries also served as money, which adds to their link with wealth. The yellow shade brings to mind the colour that Hindu tradition connects with Lord Vishnu and with festive, auspicious days.

At 15 to 25 mm, each shell is small and smooth, so a whole set fits easily in a pooja plate, a pouch or a cash box. How to Use

Wipe each shell gently with a soft, clean cloth. Do not use soap or harsh chemicals.
Place the set on a clean yellow or red cloth in your pooja room.
Light a diya and incense, then offer a flower and a few drops of Gangajal.
Chant "Om Shreem Mahalakshmiye Namah", then tie them in cloth and keep them in your cash box or locker.
